As you already know, ServiceMaster Recovery Systems offers many different and unique services. One of these is construction drying. Construction drying is a very important facet in the world of commercial construction, yet many general contractors know very little about its advantages. Construction drying is really what it just sounds like. It is the ability to dehumidify or dry out a building and its components in order for further construction to continue. ServiceMaster Recovery Systems high volume dehumidifiers produce dry air that is circulated inside a building. The air then pulls moisture molecules out of substances like concrete, masonry block and joint compound. Many commercial general contractors face tight deadlines and schedules, and small delays add up to lost time. Lost time means only one thing, loss of money. It can also mean your company's loss of reputation.
The good news is that ServiceMaster Recovery Systems specializes in construction drying. We have two warehouses that store all of the necessary equipment to dry your building out. This includes commercial grade desiccant dehumidifiers, air movers and miles of duct work to facilitate the air movement. Our specialty equipment can be used to facilitate fast track drying on slow to dry concrete when a floor covering needs to be applied. We can also use this equipment on drywall so that the wall covering can be applied sooner. Other areas include fireproofing, materials preservation, carpet and tile, wood floors and water damage. Also, keep in mind that we will ensure that you meet the legal requirements for dry materials. We understand construction delays are inevitable, that is why we are here to help you succeed. Do not hesitate, call ServiceMaster Recovery Systems on your next project.

SMAC FINANCING (SERVICEMASTER ACCEPTANCE COMPANY)
ServiceMaster Recovery Systems is excited to announce a brand new program that will help all homeowners during these turbulent times. As we all know, the economic climate is in a downturn and people just do not have the finances they once had. Unfortunately, a disaster can strike during any economic climate. This is when ServiceMaster Recovery Systems can help. We are part of a program that can deliver financial assistance to homeowners who may not otherwise have the means to pay their insurance deductible or worse yet, the entire amount for the damages to their property. It is not uncommon for homeowners, today, to forgo filing an insurance claim for property damages due to the risk of skyrocketing premiums. We understand not everyone has $10,000 lying around to be used to pay for property damage to their home.
When you contact ServiceMaster Recovery Systems after a loss, we will come out to your property and evaluate the damages. We will perform any emergency services needed at that time and can also provide an estimate for any further damages as well. If this is a situation where the homeowner would want to "self pay" for the remaining damages, then the homeowner will fill out a credit application. ServiceMaster Recovery Systems will create a financing contract based upon the credit application provided. Once the homeowner signs the agreed financing contract, we can complete the remaining and necessary work. Upon completion of the work, the satisfied homeowner then signs the work completion form and SMAC Funds are issued. At that time the homeowner will begin making financing payments on the agreed terms.
As always, our objective at ServiceMaster Recovery Systems is to put the customer first and complete the job the right way the first time. We take pride in working with homeowners no matter how unique the situation is. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

THERMAL IMAGERY AND MOISTURE DETECTION
Recently, ServiceMaster Recovery Systems has been utilizing some very exciting technology. Many of our clients have asked about thermal imagery and how it can be utilized not only during a water event but for maintenance purposes. With today's marketplace and economy, it is imperative for a business to be proactive and take measures to minimize risk. An ounce of prevention can save thousands of dollars down the road.
This is where ServiceMaster Recovery Systems can help. We have recently began performing annual and bi-annual maintenance checks for various companies. This includes large hotel chains, timeshare villas and condominium associations. Using our thermal imaging cameras, we are able to scan the entire interior of a building to determine if moisture is present. If moisture is detected, not only can we determine where it is coming from but how elevated the moisture levels are. This allows the building owner to pinpoint the area that needs to be repaired and helps us determine the proper amount of equipment needed to dry the affected area. If this area were to be left untreated or never detected to begin with, the damages could be more severe and costly down the road. Proactive maintenance on any building is always the best practice.
ServiceMaster Recovery Systems frequently runs thermal imagery pricing specials on our web site. The inspections are not intrusive and can be done with relative ease in minimal time. As always, a full report is included with each inspection and pictures from the inspection are included in the report. Please visit our website, www.2dryout.com, for additional information and promotions.

TS FAY / DYNATECH CENTRE
Tropical Storm Fay certainly made its presence known along Florida's east coast. Large amounts of rain pounded the Space Coast and Orlando areas. Some areas received as much as 20" of rain. A storm of that magnitude can disrupt the natural ebb and flow of our daily lives and cause the business sector to lose millions of dollars. ServiceMaster Recovery Systems was able to help a number of businesses by providing the equipment and manpower necessary to effectively extract the excess water and dry out the building in order to be back up and running to full capacity. One business in particular was a local nursing home in the Melbourne area. This was a delicate situation as many of the residents were elderly and had a very difficult time mobilizing themselves to safety. In addition, we were dealing with medical equipment that was both expensive and vital to the residents health. Through the assistance of our employees and the staff at the nursing home, we were able to salvage all building components and have the building, itself, dry within 4 days. In the Orlando area, ServiceMaster Recovery Systems was called out to a massive high rise structure in the downtown district. The structure is known as the Dyanatech Centre and is currently under construction with general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie. Dynatech Centre suffered water intrusion as a result of Tropical Storm Fay's heavy winds and directional rain. As many as 93 units were affected and suffered some type of water intrusion. This encompassed over 22 floors of the building, itself. We ended up using over 250 air movers and 45 extra large dehumidifiers throughout the entire structure. Both Brasfield & Gorrie and the Dynatech Centre were elated when they were informed that the entire structure was dried out within 5 days and no building components needed to be replaced. Florida Hospital Water Damage
Recently, ServiceMaster Recovery Systems was called out to Florida Hospital at the Winter Park campus. It was on an evening when heavy thunderstorms inundated the Orlando area. Florida Hospital suffered power outages and as a result the sump pump system failed. This led to upwards of a foot of water to enter the main atrium area of the hospital. The water came in through walls and at least 3 door openings. Unfortunately, the main atrium is also where patient admitting is conducted. This was of major concern to Florida Hospital's administration.
ServiceMaster Recovery Systems was on the scene within 45 minutes of the initial call. We were able to utilize both portable and truck mounted extracting equipment. This allowed us to quickly remove the standing water and create a safer environment. We also removed the affected building materials so we could concentrate on saving other components of the structure. During this time other team members were setting up high velocity air movers and dehumidifying equipment in order to initiate the drying process. As a mitigation company, we knew the high importance of removing all standing water and drying out the building as patient care could not be compromised.
By the end of day 2 the majority of the atrium and patient admitting areas were dry and functional. We did leave a few remaining air movers and a dehumidifier to continue facilitating the drying process. We were able to save carpeting, vinyl flooring, baseboards and the majority of drywall. The reconstruction costs were minimal, as a result of our efforts. Needless to say, the administration at Florida Hospital was very pleased with the results and elated that during the this water event patient care was never compromised.

Disney Wide World of Sports Jostens Center
ServiceMaster Recovery Systems recently did a water intrusion clean up at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The water event took place at the soon to be completed Jostens Center. This building is set to hold up to 10 basketball courts and several volleyball courts for daily use. The Jostens Center floor covering is made of wood floor planks throughout the entire structure.
The evening prior to our service call, the Orlando area was pounded with heavy storm activity with large amounts of rain recorded. The Jostens Center was affected by the storms when wind blown rain made its way through door openings throughout the center and water penetrated the newly laid wood flooring. Water was not only visible on the wood floor surface but also below the wood floor surface. ServiceMaster Recovery Systems was subsequently called out by the General Contractor to clean the water and save the wood flooring.
Once we arrived on the job, we immediately tested for water damage throughout the building. It was quickly determined that the water was primarily contained to about a 30-60 SF area around all the openings to the building. Using water meter penetrations, we also determined moisture was below the surface of the wood floor. With the use of high speed fans, several large dehumidifiers and thermal imaging camera work we were able to dry out the affected areas and save the wood floors. It is safe to say that if the wood floors needed replacement the costs would have exceeded hundreds of thousands of dollars. Needless to say that everyone involved was extremely happy with the results.
