Disney Wide World of Sports Jostens Center

ServiceMaster Recovery Systems recently did a water intrusion clean up at Disney's Wide World of Sports. The water event took place at the soon to be completed Jostens Center. This building is set to hold up to 10 basketball courts and several volleyball courts for daily use. The Jostens Center floor covering is made of wood floor planks throughout the entire structure.

The evening prior to our service call, the Orlando area was pounded with heavy storm activity with large amounts of rain recorded. The Jostens Center was affected by the storms when wind blown rain made its way through door openings throughout the center and water penetrated the newly laid wood flooring. Water was not only visible on the wood floor surface but also below the wood floor surface. ServiceMaster Recovery Systems was subsequently called out by the General Contractor to clean the water and save the wood flooring.

Once we arrived on the job, we immediately tested for water damage throughout the building. It was quickly determined that the water was primarily contained to about a 30-60 SF area around all the openings to the building. Using water meter penetrations, we also determined moisture was below the surface of the wood floor. With the use of high speed fans, several large dehumidifiers and thermal imaging camera work we were able to dry out the affected areas and save the wood floors. It is safe to say that if the wood floors needed replacement the costs would have exceeded hundreds of thousands of dollars. Needless to say that everyone involved was extremely happy with the results.

Melbourne Fishing Charter Trip

There is nothing better than fishing in the open waters on an offshore chartered boat. This scenario provides you the opportunity to solely concentrate on fishing and landing the "big one." The good news is that ServiceMaster Recovery Systems can make this dream a realistic venture. Just picture yourself and 5 of your friends on a 35' Contender Sport Fisherman boat that is loaded with all of today's latest technology.

Here is how it works. First you must request work to be done by ServiceMaster Recovery Systems and have us actually perform the work that is requested. Since we draw winners every 3 months, there is no limit to the amount of requests one can submit during the 3 month period. The more requests and work performed the better chance you'll be fishing. Once we complete the service you will receive a ticket number for your reference. Again, a ticket will be drawn every 3 months in our Brevard County office. The winning ticket is good for up to 6 people on an 8 hour chartered trip. The boat will depart from Port Canaveral, Florida. You must check our website, www.2dryout.com, monthly as the winning ticket is good for up to 90 days.

If you are looking to just book a fishing charter and not enter the contest you can do so by visiting www.xtractorfishing.com or calling 321-745-2139.

As always, if you or anyone has any questions regarding water, smoke and fire mitigation please do not hesitate to visit our website www.2dryout.com or call 877-2dryout. In addition we also do mold remediation and duct cleaning.

Service Master - Continuing Education

Continuing education is an essential element in the insurance industry. Insurance agents, adjusters and customer service representatives must accumulate credit hours in order to keep their respective licenses. Typically, 24 credit hours are needed every 2 years. I know the state of Florida will fine the licensee $250.00 if the license is not in good standing and delinquent of the needed credit hours after every 2 year cycle.

The good news is that here in Orlando and Melbourne, Florida ServiceMaster Recovery Systems can provide those in need of credit hours just that. We offer 3 and 6 credit hour courses on as monthly basis. This includes courses such as Water Damage Mitigation, Smoke and Odor Damage Mitigation, Mold Remediation, Reducing Severities Through Restorative Structual Drying and Reducing Severities Through an Understanding of Furniture Damage and Restoration. In addition, Ethics in Insurance will be added by the end of this year.

Our goal is not only to educate the industry through these courses, but to generate enthusiasm and have fun. Each class provides the attendee with an opportunity to interact with others and take part in class demonstrations. For example, during the water damage mitigation class each person will have the opportunity to operate a thermal imaging camera and utilize water probes in carpet and drywall samples. In addition, attendees will light various samples of carpet fibers on fire as a way to demonstrate carpet density.

Each course offered is free and food and beverages are always provided. Also, the classes are held in our air conditioned warehouse where the majority of our equipment is housed. This gives everyone in attendance the opportunity to see various types of equipment used in disaster restoration.

For future class date and times please feel free to visit our website at http://www.2dryout.com/.
